Books By Dr. Jacob W. Chikuhwa

It is one thing to write a book on a country as an outside observer (journalist), but it is another to be an insider who has been involved since the formative stages of African nationalism. In his books, Jacob Chikuhwa is able to make an analysis of both the political and economic developments in his country. His books are pleasantly lucid and readable, eschewing unnecessary jargon, and he holds the attention of the reader from the very beginning with the obvious depth of background research and acute analysis: it is rare to encounter an historian who marries such accessibility and clarity with mastery of the facts and an ability to communicate them so effectively. In short, this perceptive and fact-based politico-economic history of Zimbabwe is both rigorous, academically irreproachable, and populist (in the sense that it is readable).
